Meet up with Joey de Venecia III

Posted on February 22nd, 2010 by Jose Farrugia

Joey Joey Joey! Thats all I can remember from the jingle of Senatorial candidate Joey de Venecia III. A group of bloggers from Cebu Bloggers Society, members of the press and media were invited to an afternoon snack with Joey at Cafe Laguna Ayala Terraces.

Joey mainly gave the usual campaign speech in which he discussed his plans if he’ll ever be elected as Senator. Joey plans on giving out one laptop to every Filipino family, something similar to One Laptop Per Child. On the other hand, I found that too unrealistic. How about poverty and hunger in the Philippines? People need food on their plates here, not laptops. Joey needs to reorganize his campaign strategy.

Anyhow, Joey seems to be a trustworthy individual and seems a little bit techy as he is quite familiar with the social networking websites nowadays including PLURK (something similar to Twitter). He even maintains his own blog (which is currently down).

AI Cosplay

Posted on February 22nd, 2010 by Jose Farrugia

You might have noticed that I tend to join every cosplay event here in Cebu lately. I have attended four so far – HobCon 2009, Satin Eclipse 2009, UP Otaku Fest and now AI Cosplay 2010. The AI Cosplay event was organized by CANE Events the same guys behind Hobcon and Satin Eclipse. It was held at Parkmall Cebu City on Sunday February 22, 2010.

Personally, I found HobCon as the best cosplay show so far in Cebu. I guess it had something to do with the participants, their costumes and how the event was organized. I didn’t much like where this time as the main runway where the cosplayers were parading their outfits was against the entrance in which the sun was directly hitting. Thus, fill-in-flash was mandatory in most shots.

I am slowly beginning to find cosplay shows dull and boring. It’s the same thing over and over again. I am hoping future cosplay events will be spiced up!

Debut Roll – Julia Nemenzo

Posted on February 22nd, 2010 by Jose Farrugia

This is my second debut in the past few weeks. I am lucky enough to tag along with Twinky who happens to be on a debut roll. She’s quite in demand with her friends. Nonetheless, the main objective there was to practice my photography. I only used my Canon 50mm 1.8 lens as it was shot outside under extremely low light conditions. This is what I managed to achieve:

My Valentine’s

Posted on February 22nd, 2010 by Jose Farrugia

It’s been more than a week now since Valentine’s and it’s only now that I am posting the pictures from the day. I spent most of the day with my girlfriend, Twinky  . We ate our lunch at Don Merto’s, the branch next to Sacred Heart Girls – Juana Osmena.

We both ordered their famous American Quarter Pound Bacon Cheese Burger with fries and coleslaw which costs only P145 each. A great deal indeed! :-) The burger was quite huge for the price yet it was immensely delicious. A BIG Thumbs up!

Man’s Best Friend

Posted on February 4th, 2010 by Jose Farrugia

Last week, Twinkle was invited to a photo shoot at her friend’s house, who also happens to be a neighbor and friend of mine too. I didn’t stay for the whole photo shoot as I had class that Friday afternoon – Law class. Nonetheless, I brought along my camera hoping to do some portrait photography of the two “models” (Andrea Martinez and Camille Veloso) instead I got a few shots of the countless dogs roaming around the house.

I used the 50mm 1.8 lens for these shots below:
